Built for the shop down the road

goshelf started because one auto-parts shop couldn’t tell whether it was making money.

Where it came from

Most small shops run on a notebook, a calculator and a feeling. The feeling is usually right about sales and usually wrong about profit, because nobody knows what the stock on the shelf actually cost by the time it sells.

goshelf was built to answer that one question — what is on the shelf, and what is it making you — for a real parts shop first, and then for any shop that sells across a counter. Every number in it can be traced back to the movement that caused it. That is the whole idea.

What we believe

  • A stock figure you can’t explain is a guess with a decimal point. Write every movement down; never overwrite.
  • The till is used by someone with a queue in front of them. Every click costs a customer’s patience.
  • Honest software says what it can’t do yet. Offline mode isn’t ready, so we say so on the front page.
  • Small shops deserve the same quality of tools as big ones, at a price that makes sense for a shop.

The company

goshelf is built by a small, independent team for small, independent shops. We sell our own software directly to shop owners, we answer every support message ourselves, and we build for shops in every country and currency.
