Live by the end of the day
Six steps from an empty store to your first sale. Most shops do it in an afternoon.
Step 1: Create your store
Sign up at goshelf.app, give the store a name and pick its country. goshelf sets the currency, the date format and a sensible tax default from that — all of it can be changed in Settings → Store later.
Your 14-day trial starts now. No card is needed until you pick a plan.
Step 2: Add your products
Three ways in, pick whichever fits the shop:
- One at a time — Products → Add product. Best for a shop with under fifty lines.
- Paste from a spreadsheet — Products → Bulk add. Copy rows straight out of Excel, including the heading row, and goshelf matches the columns by name.
- Import a CSV — Products → Import. Download the template, fill it, upload it. See Import products for the details.
Step 3: Count your stock once
Go to Stock → Stock count and enter what is physically on the shelf for each product. This writes a clean opening line into the ledger, and from here goshelf keeps the count itself.
Do a count, not adjustments. A count sets a known starting point; scattered adjustments leave you unable to explain where a number came from.
Step 4: Plug in a scanner and open a shift
Any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner works — it types like a keyboard. Open the till, pick Terminal 1, enter the cash float in the drawer, and the till is ready.
Step 5: Make your first sale
Scan a product or type its name. Press Enter or tap Cash. The receipt prints, emails or downloads, and the stock figure is already one lower. If it feels right, it is working.
Step 6: Invite your staff
Settings → Users. Give each person a role — Owner, Manager or Cashier — and they get an email to set a password. A cashier can sell and refund; a manager can also discount, change prices and close shifts; only an owner sees cost and profit.
